3 Water Sports To Do On Your Vacation With Your Kids

by Lilja Maijala

Taking your kids on a family vacation to the beach may sound really relaxing until you show up and don't have much to keep them busy with. Before you head out on your next beach trip, there are a few different water activities that you may want to do with them.

1. Boating

Getting your kids out on the ocean and on a boat may be something that won't soon forget. Whether you want to do something a bit more low key like just boat around the ocean for the afternoon or you want to do something a bit more adventurous, you can take your kids waterskiing or wakeboarding. After a few times trying, your kids will likely pick it up and will be able to spend the rest of the day taking turns doing these fun water sports.

2. Surfing and Boogie Boarding

As kids get older, they want to spend less time on the beach playing in the sand and more time in the water. And what's a more fun way to play in the ocean than to go surfing or boogie boarding. Surfing may be a bit more complicated to teach your kids and may require some professional lessons, but after a day or two, they will learn how to do it and love it in the process.

Boogie boarding is one of those things that you can quickly explain to your kids how to do and then they can do it themselves. By laying with their stomach flat on a smaller, foam board (the boogie board), your kids can play in the water for hours and hours without you having to keep them busy.

3. Waterpark

Yes, your kids can spend endless hours on the beach or even playing in the ocean, but having them do some other water activities like a waterpark may take your vacation to a whole new level. Look for a beach hotel near a waterpark so you can spend a day or two wearing your kids out in the sun and on the slides. Waterparks are great for children of all ages because they typically have areas that are small enough for little kids and then they have big waterslides for kids about 8 and older.
